Efforts are underway to dismantle a trainer helicopter that made an emergency landing on the roof-top of Maitri Apartments in Indiranagar area of Bangalore. The chopper belongs to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) that is used for training purposes. The trainee made an emergency landing as there were high tensions wires and big apartments in the area. Although there’s a slight damage to the chopper, the pilot and co-pilot landed safely. The chopper got struck in such a way that dismantling it is becoming a hard nut to crack.
The chopper contained two trainees who were on a routine training session and were doing rounds. The chopper reportedly came down than the normal flying height and the pilot made the decision of landing it on the nearby roof in order to avoid damage to the lives of the people on roads.
Meanwhile, a large number of crowd thronged the place to witness the chopper and it has become the topic of the town. The residents there were of the opinion that flight training should not be permitted in their areas since it is always a threat to the public residing in those areas. Had the flight crashed, the situation would have been different. The authorities should look into this issue, public said. (Phani)
