Two wagons and a brake van attached to a goods train, ferrying rice to a Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Kerala, derailed at Attipattu Pudu Nagar on the outskirts of the city, paralysing suburban services between Chennai and Gummidipoondi on Thursday. A few express trains had to be either diverted or cancelled. The derailment was reported in Attipattu, about 22 kilometres north of Chennai, at 1.30 am on Thursday morning. It forced the railway authorities to suspend all trains services including the Electric Multiple Unit (EMU), which is considered to be the lifeline for tens and thousands of commuters. "Passengers, particularly office-goers used other modes of transport to reach the city," claimed Anbu, a frequent traveller from Arambakkam, a village situated on the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border. "In the event of such unexpected cancellations, people even commute by trucks bound for Chennai. Cashing in on the opportunity, some travel agents operate vans, ferrying people to their destinations in and around the city," he added. The situation in the neighbourhood of Ponneri was similar with many switching over to Government buses, However, a few returned home following the unexpected cancellations. According to sources in Ponneri, severe traffic jams were reported near the bus terminus in the small town, as hundreds of people trooped in to board buses. Those who had to report to write examinations had a harrowing time, the sources added. Moreover, two express trains, Chennai Central-Jammu Tawi Andaman Express and Bangalore-Guwahati Express were diverted via Gudur, Renigunta and Arakkonam. The Chennai Central-Howrah Coromandal Express was rescheduled to 14.00 hours due to late running of a pairing train. The Chennai Central-Vijayawada-Chennai Central Jan Shatabdi was cancelled. When contacted, S Anantharaman, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division, who was overseeing restoration work at Attipattu, said that EMU trains were operated from Chennai Central to Ennore in the morning. "However, services on the Chennai-Gummidipoondi up line resumed at 8.25 am. With all restoration work completed by afternoon, the Gummidipoondi - Chennai section was also opened for traffic at 12.45 pm." When asked about the cause for derailment, Anantharaman replied that an inquiry has been ordered in this connection.

3 new CBI courts in Hyd April 23, 2012 15:05

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Justice Madan B Lokur would inaugurate three new CBI courts on 12 and 13 floors of Gagan Vihar building in Nampally of Hyderabad. It may be noted that the CBI Court in Nampally is trying over 250 cases whereas each court was not supposed to try over 70 cases. Justice Pattabhi Ramarao, Justice Nagamaruti Sharma and Justice Ramana Naidu would be appointed as the judges of these courts respectively. With the increase of courts, the cases of CBI will be handled at a fast place. It is known that CBI court in Nampally has been trying Karnataka tourism minister Gali Janardhan Reddy’s case, Jagan illegal assets case and even IAS office Sri Lakshmi’s case. Now that new courts are started, the trials will undoubtedly move at a faster pace.

Metro rail works in Hyderabad are going on in full swing. The first pillar of the elevated metro rail project in Hyderabad and Secunderabad will be constructed in the last week of April in Uppal area of Hyderabad. Notably, Uppal is one of the busiest centres of the city that’s close by to both Hyderabad and Secunderabad. This is going to be the first pillar with eight metres tall and 1.8 meters wide. This area is the part of the third metro line connecting Nagole and Shilparamam (27.51 kilometres). Apparently, seven stations—Uppal, Survey of Inida, NGRI, Habsiguda, Tarnaka and Mettuguda—will be built initially. The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Managing Director, NVS Reddy has said that there was sufficient space for barricading as electric poles were shifted besides widening the culverts. It has to be mentioned here that the Centre has granted as much as Rs.18. 76 lakh only for studying on improving the pedestrian facilities. Although the ongoing metro-rail work in the city has become a pain in the head to those who commute on their own vehicles, the project—once finished—will not only make the city look beautiful, but also bring smiles on thousands of people who struggle hours together on the bus to reach from one corner of the city to the other. The proposed programmes would focus on family business, entrepreneurship, business leadership and strategy development. Hyderabad based prestigious Indian School of Business on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karachi-based Institute of Business Administration (IBA) to launch executive MBA programmes for working professionals in Pakistan. On this occasion, Deepak Chandra, Deputy Dean, ISB said: “We hope that this partnership will help create tremendous opportunities for cross-collaboration between the two schools and set the tone for many more future associations aimed at nurturing business leaders and entrepreneurs who would contribute to the growth of business and industry in Pakistan.” He signed the MoU along with Ishrat Husain, Dean and Director, IBA, at the ISB campus. Husain was equally effusive. “We at the IBA, the oldest business school established in 1987 by Wharton, feel privileged to enter into this partnership with ISB. Aadhar Card that the government introduced with much excitement seemed turned unsuccessful only due to reckless attitude of the issuing authorities, who were not only delaying the issue of cards but are resorting to blunders. Recently an Aadhar Card was issued under the name of ‘kothimeera’( coriander leaves in English). This incident took place in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The worst part of it is that photo was changed, name was changed and even wrong address was printed. People who got to know this were reportedly complaining as to how could the officials print a card on coriander name. Irony is that the father’s name on the card was printed as palav and in address section it was printed gongura thota (Hibiscus cannabinus), mamidikaya ooru (mango village) and then finally Ananthapur district. The card number is—499118665246. The postman, who first saw this address, was astonished and then told it to the villagers who laughed out their lungs. Altough there was no mandal name mentioned on that, the card has come to hands of postman based on the pin code. Even if someone played prank by applying with this name, how could officials overlook it and accept the card is a million dollar question. At least after this incident, the government should ask its employees to work honestly and those found not working properly should be dismissed immediately irrespective of person’s problems as country’s fate and future depends on the government employees.

Hanuman Jayanthi procession would start from Ram Mandir at Gowliguda and proceed through Putlibowli X Roads, Andhra Bank X Roads, Ram Koti X Roads, Kacheguda X Roads, Narayanguda, RTC X Roads, Gandhinagar T Junction, Kavadiguda, Bata X Roads, Ramgopalpet Police Station, Paradise, Balamrai, Tadbund X Roads, New Bowenpally, Diamond Point and culminates at Hanuman temple at Tadbund. City police commissioner A K Khan said in a release that traffic on the procession route would be diverted or stopped as and when the procession passes through the junctions. Trader murdered in Hyderabad April 04, 2012 15:54

The ghastly incident occurred late last night in the state capital. A trader was murdered right in front of his shop, while leaving the premises. A gang of miscreants attacked him with guns and knives. After the attack they fled the scene. The injured trader was admitted in the hospital, by the passers-by. He succumbed to injuries in the early hours of the day. Gang wars and miscreants atrocities seem to be gripping the city slowly. In a major incident at the L B Nagar junction, the owner of Wood World, a furniture shop, Jehangir was shot at by unknown gang of people, on Tuesday late night, while he was leaving the premises. He succumbed to injuries in a hospital. Jehangir at around 10pm went out with his friends for a small party to a nearby bar. After the friends dispersed, he returned to his shop. And as he was nearing the shop, a gang of miscreants attacked him with weapons. In the melee the miscreants left a knife on the site. The injured died while being treated at the hospital, nearby. Cyberabad Commissioner Tirumal Rao who reached the spot immediately, informed that the injured had five bullets in his body apart from knife injuries. Police suspect business rivalry as the reason for murder. Investigations are going on as a case has been registered in this regards.
