A major job, education fair Central Arizona will be set up on 2 September at the Yuma Civic Center. At the third annual Yuma Community Job & Education Fair, information on more than 2,000 job opportunities is expected to have with the vendors.

Yuma district director for Goodwill of Central Arizona, San Juana Macias, said that interest in the event is continuing to build and more of the positions in play are year-round, full-time jobs.

She said, “This time around it’s not necessarily seasonal opportunities. I know Yuma County is known to be a seasonal community, but the employers that are on board are offering a more permanent, all-year-round, benefits included, for those that are interested in these positions and qualified for these positions,”

“So definitely a positive economic impact.”

What should you get with you?

Get copies of resume and be prepared for job interviews on the spot. However, companies could be just providing information on contacts rather than making decisions at the booth. Get a pre-registration form at https://goo.gl/0zPRhK, so that you can be processed quickly at the Civic Center entrance.

Who are the vendors?

The fair’s sponsors have till now rounded up 100 booth vendors. major number are employers, other include school districts, government agencies and national restaurant and retail companies. Government agencies include Phoenix and San Diego police departments. Amongst others are call centers, aviation companies, casinos, automotive, trucking firms, and more.

A minimum of four agricultural companies will again be housedin the East Wing of the civic center. They will process all the seasonal workers expected to attend: EarthBound Farm, GreenGate Fresh, Barkley Ag Enterprises and Pack Fresh.

Who are the organizers?

One of the organizations Goodwill partnering with others to organize the event for area with 26.6% unemployment rate. Other organizers include Ft. Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe; Yuma Private Industry Council; Arizona Department of Economic Security; Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation; Arizona Western College; Achieve Human Services; Marine Corps Community Services; Yuma Proving Ground and; PPEP.

Macias said “The Power of Partnership” will be the theme for this year’s fair, recognizing the collaboration needed to create an event of this scale in a town where so many are seeking work.
