Crisp baguettes, stunning works of art, delicious cuisine and fine wines make France a traveller's paradise - so when is the best time to indulge in these delicacies? Many people believe that August is the best time to visit Paris, as many locals go on holiday during this month and Paris is quieter than usual. Many French families love this time of year because it coincides with the school holidays. The factories were closed for a month so that the workers could rest. The French have five weeks of holiday a year, which inevitably takes up at least part of August. Museums and galleries are open all month, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars to relax in. However, if you visit a small town or village, be prepared to see shutters and signs announcing that the owners will be back in September. Big college towns are also quieter in August because students are on break and many part-time residents spend the summer elsewhere.

Tourists should also note that August 15th is a public holiday in France, so most government offices and public buildings are closed. Summer in France is sunny and warm, making it ideal for travel. In most places, the temperature does not exceed 28°C, the minimum temperature is 14°C. It rains all over the country, with slightly more rain in the south than in the rest of the country. Book your tickets and accommodation at least two months in advance to get the best prices. Be sure to bring stylish clothes as there are many parties and music festivals during this period.
