The Aedes aegypti mosquito is spreading the deadly dengue disease in Gandhinagar. Petrified people prefer alternative preventive measures with homemade remedies from the ancient system of Ayurveda for protection. No specific drug or vaccine is available for the potential fatal disease.

Ayurvedic homemade remedies to prevent dengue

The consumption of few items like cow milk, papaya juice, neem and desi ghee is being strongly identified by Ayurveda experts to prevent dengue and H1N1 influenza as well. Consumption of papaya not only helps in the prevention of dengue, it also enhances platelet count.

Akhandanand Ayurvedic College medical superintendent Dr Dinesh Chandra Pandya said, "The humble papaya leaf is a miracle panacea. I recommended its paste to several patients with a lower-than 35,000 platelet count and it worked wonders.”

"Since the nose is the route of all infections, putting two drops of desi ghee in the nose twice a day will guard against all viruses," Dr Dinesh added.

A teacher, Alpana Vasavada, said, "My husband was diagnosed with dengue on September 5. I gave him a paste extracted from papaya leaves every day. This miraculously helped reduce the drop in platelet count."

Recommending Sudarshan Ghanvati and Shamshamni Vati as substitute treatment for both dengue and swine flu, Pandya said, "Both are widely used for chronic fever. Patients have two tablets each of Sudarshan Ghanvati and Shamshamni Vati with warm water twice a day.”
