‘Rajanna’. The trailers of the film itself created a lot of buzz, prior to the release of the film. Based on the jorner of ‘Historical’, this flick has been released today, amongst highest expectations. No doubt, this flick is a experimental film. But, did this experiment worked positive or not? Story

Set in a village called Nelakondapalli in Adilabad district in early 1950's, the film tells the story of Mallamma (Annie) and her father Rajanna (Nagarjuna), a freedom fighter. After the death of her father and mother (Sneha), a villager brings up Mallamma and her only passion is singing. But the village's dorasani orders to kill this little nightingale. She is saved by her music teacher (Nasser) and he tells her to go to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru so that the village gets freedom from the Nizam ruling. She sets out for Delhi on bare foot and as soon as she reaches to meet Nehru, the village dorasani and her men land in Delhi and abscond her and lock her and her music teacher in a room. Her teacher tells the story of Rajanna, her father, and a revolutionary who taught the villagers to fight against the atrocities.

Analysis :

Raajanna

we can experience the director’s rewarding work done on framing the story and the screenplay of the film so very well and making us involved in the film so much, while watching the same. Director Vijayendra Prasad has done a praiseworthy job to successfully and effectively portray Razakkars ruthless ruling and how Rajanna rescued them. And Rajamouli’s works on action episodes were simply remarkable. One of the best parts of Rajanna includes how Vijayendra Prasad was able to envision and made the characters follow his loop. Parts like Rajanna singing revolutionary songs about rising against the order of the day were just terrific. Rajanna characterization and his willingness to rise and fight injustice against the Nizam's kingdom were brilliantly shot. Vijayendra Prasad has done lot of research and homework on the Nizam’s rule and that’s evidently seen on the camera. The Nizam’s and the autocratic rules of the Zamindars were well shot and high temp scenes involving the small girl were also well picturized. of course, it is very refreshing experiencing the directorial skills of Director S.S. RajaMouli, who directed a song and certain sequences in the film. MM Keeravani is another hero behind the screens. His brilliant music and background took the temp of Rajanna to a completely different level. Nagarjuna’s revolutionary fight against the British resembles scenes from Sr. NTR’s Major Chandrakanth and Krishna’s Alluri Seetharamaraju. The first half might play a spoilsport till the lead character’s entry but the movie gains momentum later. Despite of Nag and all the other roles having their own bit to do in the film, the show stealing performance was given by Annie, who is the heart of the film.

Performance :

Raajanna

Nagarjuna is great as Rajanna. His costumes, Telangana accent dialogue delivery is wonderful. Although he previously uttered Telangana slang in King, Nag has done a fantastic job in this backdrop. Annie – (the small girl) is outstanding. Her performance was up to the mark and her expressions given in certain situations surprised the audience to the core. Her apt expressions and dialogue delivery are worth mentioning. Sneha looks adequate as Nagarjuna’s wife and SwethaMenon also looks good as Dorasani. MM Keeravani’s music scores and the back ground scores have added to the sequences in the film. More over, since every song in this film has a meaning for it, hats off to the lyric writers Suddala Ashok Teja, K Shiva Dutta, Ananth Sriram, Chaitanya Prasad who have mesmerized the audience with their heart touching and meaningful lyrics. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao was apt as well. .

Final Word ‘Raajanna’, a film that is a relief from all the regular commercial flicks. A must watch!
