Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Kuwait for a historic two-day visit. He described this trip as a chance to create a plan for a future partnership between India and Kuwait. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in the last 43 years. The trip comes at the invitation of the Amir of Kuwait. Before leaving for the Gulf nation, Modi said he looks forward to meeting the Amir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister of Kuwait to develop a roadmap for a forward-looking partnership that will benefit the people of both countries and the region. He highlighted the strong trade and energy relationship between the nations and their shared interest in peace, security, and prosperity in the West Asia region. During the visit, Modi will hold talks with Kuwaiti leaders, visit an Indian labor camp, address the Indian community, and attend the opening ceremony of the Gulf Cup football tournament.

Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the significant contributions made by the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, which have helped strengthen the friendship between the two nations. He expressed gratitude to Kuwait's leadership for inviting him to attend the prestigious Arabian Gulf Cup, a major sporting event in the Gulf region. The Prime Minister looked forward to being part of this celebration of athletic prowess and regional unity. He expressed confidence that this visit would further strengthen and reinforce the special ties and bonds between the people of India and Kuwait. Upon arrival at his hotel in Kuwait, where he would stay for the next two days, members of the Indian community eagerly gathered to interact with him. The Prime Minister engaged with the Indian diaspora and enjoyed a cultural performance showcasing traditional folk acts from Kerala and other Indian states. He also met with Abdullah Al Baroun and Abdul Lateef Al Nesef.

The government is in talks with Kuwait about a potential investment agreement and a defense partnership, ahead of the prime minister's upcoming visit to the country. The Indian government official, Arun Kumar Chatterjee, stated that Prime Minister Modi's upcoming visit to Kuwait is expected to open a new chapter in the bilateral relations between India and Kuwait. The visit will not only strengthen the existing partnership, but also unveil new areas for future cooperation, reinforcing their shared values and building a stronger and more dynamic partnership. Chatterjee also mentioned that the visit is expected to boost the ties between India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which is an influential group comprising the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait. Furthermore, Chatterjee emphasized the government's importance placed on the welfare of Indian workers abroad, and the purpose of the Prime Minister's visit to a labor camp is to express this concern.
