As Ganesh Chaturthi is around the corner, a lot of people might be already conceiving on how unique their Ganapati idol should be this year. From idols made of clay to Plaster of Paris, the market is filled with different Ganapati idols that convince you to buy.
The effort to cut down Ganesh idols made by non-traditional means like thermocol, plastic decorations and Plaster of Paris is incessant.
If you are keen on worshiping eco-friendly Ganesha at home and it is being tough for you to find one in the market, don’t fret - here are steps to prepare Ganesh idols all by yourself at home.
1. Take a lump of clay and mix it in the water to make a dough. Now divide the dough into various body parts of Lord Ganesha.

5. Flatten the ends of two rolls outwards and stick them onto the torso of the idol.
6. Pick up one roll, cover it around the idol right above the legs and shape one of the sides upwards. Now make palm for the idol by carefully carving the fingers and the thumb on it.
7. Take another piece of the clay with the shape of a ball and put it over the body - the head of the body. Now take a last piece of the long rolled clay and place it in the middle of the head.
8. For ears, eyes, and ladoos, make small-sized rounds with use of 3-4 drops of water for each of them. Place the ears and flatten them out. Stick the eyes and place a ladoo on the hand.
9. For dhoti, you can use sculpting tools. You can fill the gaps on the back by adding extra clay.
