The IPL Auction for the year 2022 came to an end by Sunday and a total number of 204 players are sold for a whopping amount of Rs 550 crores. A total number of 107 players are capped and 97 are uncapped. Among the players, 137 are Indians and 67 are from other countries. It is quite unfortunate but Indian star player Suresh Raina remained unsold. Ishan Kishan is the most expensive player and he was bought by Mumbai Indians for a price of Rs 15.25 crores. Yuvraj Singh remains as the costliest player of the IPL auction and he was bought for Rs 16 crores in 2015. Ishant Sharma, Akash Madhwal, Khulwant Khejroliya, Rahul Chandrol and Shivank Vashisth are unsold.
Charu Sharma took over the auction after Mr Hugh Edmeade was unwell. Hugh Edmeade returned back to the podium before the auction came to an end. Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar is sold for Mumbai Indians for Rs 30 lakhs. Liam Livingstone of England was bought for Rs 11.5 crores by Punjab Kings. Odean Smith from West Indies was sold for Rs 6 crores for Punjab. Chennai Super Kings bought Shivam Dube for Rs 4 crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad picked up Marco Jansen of South Africa for Rs 4.2 crores. Ajinkya Rahane was bought for base price of Rs 1 crores by Kolkata Knight Riders.
Mumbai Indians pumped out Rs 8 crores for Jofra Archer and Singapore international Tim David was taken for Rs 8.25 crores. Romario Shepherd of West Indies was taken for Rs 7.75 crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals spent Rs 4.20 crores for Chetan Sakariya and the team also paid Rs 5.25 crores for Khaleel Ahmed. Shikhar Dhawan was sold for Rs 8.25 crores and Ravichandran Ashwin was taken for Rs 5 crores. Shreyas Iyer was taken by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping price of Rs 12.25 crores. Washington Sundar was taken by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 8.75 crores and Krunal Pandya was taken by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 8.25 crores.
