Indian cricket lovers and the fans of MS Dhoni are left in shock after the star cricketer announced that he will step down as the captain of Chennai Super Kings. The top player and wicketkeeper has been leading Chennai Super Kings since 2008 ever since IPL started. MS Dhoni will continue to play and represent Chennai Super Kings as per the update. Ravindra Jadeja will lead Chennai Super Kings for the season. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told that MS Dhoni wanted the leadership to be smooth and he suggested the name of Jadeja.
MS Dhoni announced the decision on Thursday at the team meeting before the squad. CSK won the title last year and this happens to be the fourth title for the team in IPL. CSK will play their first match with Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26th in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Viswanathan told that MS Dhoni has been thinking about stepping down and he felt that this is the right time to hand over the captaincy. Ravindra Jadeja is playing for CSK since 2012 and is third senior player for the team after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina. MS Dhoni led CSK for 213 matches and reported 130 victories. Recently, Virat Kohli too stepped down as the captain for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
