Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian team captain and the captain who led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to lift their fifth IPL title underwent knee surgery at a hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala (Orthopaedic Surgeon), a member of the BCCI medical panel has performed surgery for Dhoni. He performed knee surgery to former Indian cricket team player Rishab Panth also.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan addressed the media and said that Dhoni underwent knee surgery at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai on Thursday morning and doing fine. According to reports, Dhoni is already been discharged from the hospital and gone back to Ranchi. Doctors performed a keyhole surgery, which is nothing but an arthroscopic repair. The nature of surgery is yet to be known.

This surgery is now raising hopes for Dhoni’s entry into the next IPL. He will be on rest for some days and will start his rehabilitation, which is nothing but his training and fitness to participate in next IPL season.

Dhoni was overwhelmed by the fan's response this season. He expressed his desire to play for the next IPL and this knee surgery is part of it.
