‘Roar of the Lion’ Hotstar doucumentary-drama series in which Mahendra Singh Dhoni narrates the journey of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team in Indian Premier League (IPL) released on Wednesday February 20.
In the Five episodes series Captain MS Dhoni talks about the rise of Chennai super Kings team in IPL, suspension and also the emotional comeback in 2018 IPL and winning the title.
He called that his association with CSK is like an arranged marriage.
MS Dhoni breaks his silence on allegation of match fixing which levied against him.
“Whatever I am today, whatever I have achieved is because of cricket. So the biggest crime that I can commit personally is not murder. It's actually match fixing because it doesn't get restricted to me. If I'm involved in such a thing, it has a bigger impact. If people think a match is fixed based on the improbability of an outcome, then people lose their faith in cricket. I don't think in my life I would deal with something that is tougher than this," he says in the documentary.
He reveals that 2013 was darkest phase in his cricketing career. The team was engulfed in spot-fixing case and later on franchise was suspended for two years by Lodha Committee in 2015.
CSK team owner N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was accused of spot-fixing.
He clarifies that Gurunath Meiyappan was introduced to us only as the owner's son-in-law. He said the team did deserve punishment but the quantum was too harsh.
He also talked on how people mocked the team after making comeback in 2018 as ‘dads army’
Other Chennai Super Kings players Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Shane Watson, Mohit Sharma and coaches Michael Hussey and Mathew Hayden also make appearances in the series.
What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
