Lionel Messi faces a two match suspension for his red card against the team Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup Final. In the final two minutes of the game, Messi received a red card for hitting his opponent with his hand and pushed him to the ground. This has led to a two match ban for the football legend. This is the first time Messi had received a red card since playing with Barcelona.
According to the referee’s report, the player strikes his opponent with his arm and used excessive force while in play but not within a playable distance.
FC Barcelona is trying to appeal to the suspension issued to the football player. More news regarding this is yet to come soon.
