The new iPhone 16 series, comprising the standard iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, is expected to launch in September. Rumors about this upcoming lineup have been circulating for months, and a hands-on video of an iPhone 16 series prototype has recently been published online. This video provides details about the camera specifications of the upcoming Apple devices, including the introduction of a brand new shutter button. The standard model is said to have two rear cameras, while the Pro variant will feature three rear sensors. Additionally, a video from AppleInsider has revealed the camera module and action button of the iPhone 16 series. According to a hands-on video, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will have dual rear cameras, including a 48-megapixel primary wide-angle camera and a secondary ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/1.6 aperture and up to 2x zoom. The iPhone 16 series is also said to have an f/2.2 aperture camera with 0.5x zoom, which represents an improvement over the f/2.4 aperture on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

According to the information provided, the upcoming iPhone 16 models, particularly the Pro and Pro Max variants, are expected to have enhanced camera capabilities. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are said to feature triple rear cameras, including a wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle, and a telephoto lens. The telephoto lens, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is now available on both Pro models. The sensor of the main camera is expected to retain the 48MP resolution with a f/1.78 aperture and 2x optical zoom. The telephoto lens is said to have a 12MP sensor with 5x optical zoom and a f/2.8 aperture. Additionally, the ultra-wide camera may be upgraded to 48MP with pixel binning, allowing for 0.7µm pixels at full resolution or 1.4µm when using quad pixels. The iPhone 16 Pro models are also expected to support ProRaw recording. Furthermore, Apple is rumored to introduce a new image format called JPEG-XL, in addition to the existing HEIF, JPEG, HEIF Max, ProRaw, and ProRAW Max formats. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are expected to support 3K video recording at 120 fps with Dolby Vision.

The new DSLR-like zoom button will be included in all iPhone 16 models set to release later this year, likely located in the bottom right corner and functioning as a capacitor. This button will enable users to seamlessly zoom in and out within the default app. Apple plans to unveil the latest iPhone models on September 10th, with the iPhone 16 Pro versions expected to feature slightly bigger displays compared to the iPhone 15 series. The new iPhone 16 series, comprising the standard iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, is expected to launch in September.
