On Thursday, February 27, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in China, expanding its top-of-the-line smartphone series alongside the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. This release occurs just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona and serves as the successor to the previous year's Xiaomi 14 Ultra model. Like its predecessors in the Xiaomi 14 range, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra operates on Qualcomm’s most recent Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and features the updated HyperOS 2 user interface. The base price for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra begins at CNY 6,499 (approximately Rs. 78,000) for the model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The options with 16GB RAM and either 512GB or 1TB storage are available for CNY 6,999 (around Rs. 84,000) and CNY 7,799 (roughly Rs. 93,000), respectively. Consumers can choose from several color options, including classic black and silver, pine and cypress green, black, and white. In addition to the smartphone, Xiaomi offers a Professional imaging kit as an accessory priced at CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 12,000). The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a dual-SIM (Nano) device that runs on HyperOS 2, which is based on Android 15. It features a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,200 nits. This display is said to support a touch sampling rate of 300Hz, HDR 10+, and Dolby Vision.
The heart of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is fueled by Qualcomm’s high-end octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset built on a 3nm process, reaching clock speeds of up to 4.32GHz. It can be coupled with as much as 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, along with the Adreno 830 GPU. For photography, the smartphone is outfitted with a quad-camera arrangement situated within a centrally located circular module. This system features a primary 50-megapixel Sony LYT900 sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a fixed f/1.63 aperture, alongside a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, 3x optical zoom, and a 75mm focal length, a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP9 telephoto sensor with a f/2.6 aperture and 100mm focal length, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a f/2.2 aperture and a 115-degree field of view. The camera setup supports video recording at resolutions of up to 8K/30fps and 4K/60fps. Additionally, it incorporates a 32-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video chatting.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is powered by a robust 6,000mAh battery that supports fast charging at 90W wired and 80W wireless, as well as reverse wireless charging capability. The device includes various connectivity features such as 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, NavIC, and USB Type-C. For security, it is equipped with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and carries an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water. In terms of measurements, the black and white editions of the phone have dimensions of 161.3mm x 75.3mm x 9.35mm and weigh 226g, whereas the other color options have a slightly thicker design at 9.48mm and weigh 229g.
