A world without pollution and without having to burn the fossil fuels is the dream of every citizen across the globe. And such is possible in hydrogen economy.
The 243 rd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society at San Diego, made a thorough study on how could the present day nuke plants could take us nearer to the Hydrogen Economy. This is an economy referring to an economy that needs no petroleum fuels or fossil fuels which shall be replaced by hydrogen fuel. Thereby, ensuring a pollution free environment.
Ibrahim Khamis, PhD, who is with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria, described how heat from existing nuclear plants could be used in the more economical production of hydrogen, with future plants custom-built for hydrogen production. Adding that, future nuclear power reactors could be enlisted in hydrogen production.
Good news is that Andhra Pradesh would get on the nuclear radar with its uranium supply. As per a report the Tummalapalle Uranium mines in Tummalapalle village in Kadapa district in the state is soon to supply about 25 per cent of the uranium required by nuclear power plants in the country. The area contains the world’s largest uranium reserves and the uranium mill set up by the Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) has started operations. This is our way to express the solidarity towards H-Economy. (With inputs from internet- AarKay)
