The security of yet another American multinational computer software company - Adobe Systems - has been breached. This is the second case of a large-scale cyber crime reported in America in the recent times. Just a couple of weeks ago, the New York Times website was allegedly hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army.
Nearly 3 million accounts have been compromised - sensitive and personal data like IDs, passwords, and credit card information of millions of customers have been hacked.
"Our investigation currently indicates that the attackers accessed Adobe customer IDs and encrypted passwords on our systems. We also believe the attackers removed from our systems certain information relating to 2.9 million Adobe customers, including customer names, encrypted credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates, and other information relating to customer orders," Brad Arkin, Adobe's chief security officer, wrote in a security alert.
"Cyberattacks are one of the unfortunate realities of doing business today. Given the profile and widespread use of many of our products, Adobe has attracted increasing attention from cyberattackers," he further wrote.
The San Jose, California, company says it is also probing illegal access to the source code of numerous Adobe products because it believes that the recent attacks could be related to it.
