WhatsApp is rolling out fun new features in the new year to improve the messaging and calling experience, the company announced Thursday. For a limited time, WhatsApp users can enjoy new New Year-themed calling effects during video calls. Additionally, the instant messaging platform has released new animations and sticker packs to match the festive spirit. It is worth noting that Instagram, another app that belongs to the Meta platform, recently introduced a limited feature called 2024 Collage. WhatsApp says users can now make video calls during the holidays and apply festive backgrounds, filters and effects to celebrate the New Year. It also brings new animated reactions. When someone replies to a message with the emoji of your choice, both the sender and recipient will see a confetti animation. The instant messaging platform also introduced new stickers. We have a collection of New Year's Eve (New Year's Eve) sticker packs and avatar stickers to match your New Year theme. According to WhatsApp, these features are a great way to send holiday wishes in a fun and interactive way.
These features complement other features added to WhatsApp in recent weeks. Last week we introduced more effects for video calls, including puppy ears, underwater microphones, and karaoke. Now you can choose from 10 effect types. Additionally, users can now select specific participants for calls within a group without interrupting the entire chat. WhatsApp has already introduced tap markers for real-time interaction in chat. Once the feature is launched, users will see visual cues in chats with a profile picture of the user typing one-on-one and group conversations. Another recently added feature is voicemail transcription. As the name suggests, WhatsApp offers text transcription of other users' voice messages. However, only the recipient can see the voicemail transcript, not the sender. The platform emphasizes that transcripts are generated on your device and no one else can hear or read their content.
