WhatsApp has introduced new features and design improvements to offer more creative options for private chats. The Metta-owned instant messaging platform offers users 30 different visual effects to edit videos and photos in chat. The app also makes it easy to create stickers from selfies to increase engagement on the platform. Sticker packs can now be shared directly in chats. WhatsApp has also added a new shortcut to chat reply. WhatsApp announced its new updates and features for 2025 in a blog post on Tuesday. The popular messaging platform lets you add more than 30 background filters and effects to your photos and videos. The filters and background feature was announced last October for WhatsApp video calls and has now been extended to the WhatsApp camera. These filters allow you to customize the color or change the background. WhatsApp's main messaging rival Snapchat already offers this feature.
Second, WhatsApp users can directly convert their selfie into a sticker by tapping on the sticker icon. Tap on “Create Sticker” and you will see a camera option that allows you to instantly click on a selfie to create a sticker. The selfie stickers feature is currently only available on WhatsApp for Android, but will soon be available on iOS as well. WhatsApp offers the ability to share sticker packs directly in chats. Finally, WhatsApp offers a new way to quickly scroll through the most used reactions by double-tapping a message. It's a simpler interface than the existing "press and hold" method of replying in chat.
