OpenAI is expected to soon unveil a range of artificial intelligence agents, according to recent reports. These upcoming AI agents are said to possess specialized knowledge in particular fields. Unlike the majority of the company’s current offerings, these agents may not fall under its existing subscription plans and could instead be marketed as independent services. Designed to function at the level of professional experts, these AI tools might come with a substantial price tag.

As reported by The Information, the San Francisco-based firm is aiming to introduce up to three distinct AI agents that will be highly specialized in their respective areas. Sources cited by the publication suggested that a monthly subscription for these agents could reach as high as $20,000, approximately Rs. 17,40,800. However, there was no indication of when these AI agents might be launched.

One of the anticipated AI products is characterized as a "high-income knowledge worker." This term typically applies to individuals with profound expertise in their fields whose roles require critical thinking, strategic planning, and decision-making. Examples include roles such as CXOs, management consultants, and financial analysts. The pricing for this AI agent is estimated at $2,000 per month, roughly Rs. 1.74 lakh.

Another AI agent reportedly under development is designed to act as a software developer, potentially costing $10,000 per month, which is around Rs. 8.7 lakh. This agent is expected to excel in tasks like coding, debugging, resolving bugs, and deploying code. In contrast, Devin AI, another AI tool for software development, is available at a lower rate of $500 per month, approximately Rs. 45,500. It's worth noting that OpenAI’s current ChatGPT platform also offers coding features, but it does not perform tasks independently, a capability anticipated from these new AI agents.

Additionally, the standout offering from OpenAI is rumored to be a "PhD-level research" agent, which may be priced at $20,000 monthly. In a parallel development, Google has introduced its Gemini Deep Research functionality, described as a "personal research assistant" capable of conducting research autonomously and producing detailed reports. This feature is accessible to Gemini Advanced subscribers for a fee of Rs. 1,950 a month. Given the substantial pricing of these AI agents, it seems they will primarily target enterprise clients rather than individual consumers. The report also indicated that SoftBank, an investor in OpenAI, has committed to investing $3 billion, or approximately Rs. 26,112 crore, into the company’s AI agent initiatives by 2025.
