WhatsApp is rolling out several new features ahead of the holiday season to improve the voice and video calling experience across desktop and mobile platforms, the company announced on Thursday. Social media platforms now allow users to choose from more effects for video calls. It is also possible to select specific participants to be called up in group chats. WhatsApp also claims to improve the calling experience by introducing high-resolution videos. In a blog post, WhatsApp explained the new features on its desktop and mobile platforms. The company has highlighted that users can choose from ten different effects during video calls, including puppy ears, underwater microphones and karaoke. Group chats allow users to select specific participants in a call without interrupting the entire chat. The social media platform says it will offer more options in the Contacts tab of the WhatsApp desktop app. Added options to start a call, create a call link and dial. It also introduces high-quality video calls with clearer images for individual and group calls.

It should be noted that these features are in addition to those introduced to WhatsApp in recent months. Earlier this month, WhatsApp introduced tap markers for real-time interaction in chats. When you participate in an active conversation in individual and group chats, a visual cue appears in the chat along with the user's profile picture as you type. This feature is said to be particularly useful when multiple users are typing in a group chat at the same time. Additionally, we published a transcript of the voicemail last month. This is intended to make sending voice messages easier. This feature allows users to transcribe voice messages received from other users. However, only the recipient can see the voicemail transcript, not the sender. WhatsApp emphasizes that the transcripts are generated on your device and no one else can hear or read their content.
