Analysis :
The first half of the movie has been filled with loads of entertainment. Though the comedy dominates the original plot at times, the director comes back into the script at the right time so that the audience will be left impressive. The songs have been shot and placed well. The emotional episodes connect well and on the whole the first half of Shankarabharanam has been decent.
The second half of the movie takes a different turn as the complete film runs on comedy neglecting the original plot. The story looks faked away and the number of actors on the screen leaves the audience confused. With many unnatural tracks taking place the audience will be disturbed. The pre climax and the climax episodes are the major disappoints of the movie. On the whole the second half is a complete disappointment.
Performance :
Nikhil has been terrific as Gowtham and he carried the complete film on his shoulders. He has been perfect as a NRI and he tried a new accent mixing up the US accent. Nanditha has been decent and she performed well. Rao Ramesh and his family members have been responsible for the emotional part of the movie. Sampath Raj and Anjali have elevated the movie with their stupendous performances. Sapthagiri, Prudhvi and others have been high on comedy and they have entertained the audience. All the other actors have been decent.
The story of the movie has been old fashioned and is predictable. The screenplay has been ok. The dialogues have been written well. Especially the one liners have been decent. The music and the background score are completely apt. The cinematography has been decent and the production values have been grand. The director failed to bring out the right second half for a movie like Shankarabharanam.
Final Word:
Shankarabharanam has a decent first half that dips badly because of the faked second half. A disappointment.
