Story

Teja Sajja's portrayal of Hanumanth, a character who starts off as an underdog but transforms into a superhero, is fitting and convincing. Amritha Aiyer delivers what is expected of her as the love interest in the film. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's role as the elder sister, Anjamma, plays a crucial role in the latter half of the film, emphasizing the importance of the brother-sister bond. On the other hand, Vinay Rai's portrayal as the villain falls short and lacks impact.

Analysis

The first half of the film takes its time to establish the setting and introduce the character of Hanumanth and the village of Anjanadri. Once this foundation is set, the narrative becomes engaging and the film showcases the director's strong command over his craft. The interval sequence is particularly gripping and adds to the overall impact of the film. The first half includes well-executed comedy sequences supported by Satya and Getup Seenu, which are well-received by families and children.

The action sequences in the film are well-executed, although some may defy gravity and lack logic at times. The Avakayi fight sequence set against a montage song is particularly worth mentioning. Teja Sajja's transformation into a superhero is convincingly portrayed and adds to the film's appeal. Despite some flaws, the film manages to hold the audience's attention throughout and director Prasanth Varma succeeds in keeping the film engaging.

However, the early second half of the film follows a predictable path and includes some unnecessary drama that hampers the flow of the film. The middle act is stretched out and features a weak and underwhelming portrayal of the antagonist, whose goals are poorly defined. This is a significant drawback of the film.

Nevertheless, the devotion and emotion invoked by the presence of Lord Hanuman and the well-erected gigantic statue of Hanuman remain prominent throughout the film. The film misses out on some logical aspects and the director takes some cinematic liberties, which may work in some instances but not in others.

Performance

Comedians Vennela Kishore, Satya, and Getup Sreenu do a commendable job in their respective roles, providing the necessary comedic relief. The film is visually stunning and the high-end technical aspects add to its appeal. The VFX work in particular is praiseworthy and contributes to the overall presentation of the film.

HanuMan is a desi superhero film that strikes a balance between devotion, action, emotion, and drama. Director Prasanth Varma successfully incorporates light-hearted humor into the narrative, offering occasional moments of laughter. The film tells a linear superhero story and utilizes breathtaking visuals and impressive visual effects to engage the audience. Despite budget constraints, the VFX work is noteworthy and adds to the overall impact of the film.
