With CBI Joint Director VV Lakshmi Narayana camping in Delhi and holding discussions with his boss AP Singh and Home Minister P. Chidambaram separately, speculation has gained momentum over the possible arrest of the YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the illegal assets case.
As soon as he arrived in Delhi this morning, Lakshminarayana directly headed for the CBI headquarters and spent whole day discussing the issue with CBI Director AP Singh. However, he met Chidambaram in the evening and discussed the issue with him as the arrest of Jagan could have possible political repercussions.
The CBI has to file the charge sheet in the special court at Hyderabad in the illegal assets case on or before April 2. Since Jagan is the main accused in the case, tongues started wagging over the possible arrest of Jagan before that date.
“He may be arrested without even a formal questioning or his name may be mentioned in the charge sheet while CBI may arrest him later,” commented a source, adding, it all depends on whether the Home Minister has accorded permission for Jagan’s arrest before filing the charge sheet.(J)
