Andhra Pradesh has been declared as the second most unsafe state for the fairer sex in India.
The IT-savvy state has recorded the second highest number of crimes against women, after West Bengal.
Latest statistics released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) show over an11 per cent rise in the crime rate committed against women in the state of which Vijayawada and Hyderabad accounted for 10 per cent of all crimes done.
An astronomical 28,171criminal cases against women were registered in the state last year. Hyderabad accounted for1,899 cases of crimes while Vijayawada stood at at 1,898.
Most of the crimes reported were of domestic abuse and violence. About 13,389 cases of assault on a woman by her husband and his kins were booked last year
The state also ranked high on immoral trafficking with 472cases being booked within the state.
Andhra Pradesh also topped the list of dowry harassment in the country.
