Chihuahuas look cute and harmless in your arm when they are pets. But stray chihuahuas can be a terror, especially if they are moving in packs of 8 to 12. An Arizona town is facing the problem of chihuahua overpopulation that is running around all over the place.
According to reports children in the town of Maryvale are chased by packs of chihuahua when the are going to school. Besides the dogs leave behind their mess all over the pavements in the town.
The residents of Maryvale have reported the issue of chihuahuas creating nuisance in the streets to the authorities. Apparently, the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control has confirmed that it had received almost 6,000 calls last year.
Ray Rios, a Maryvale resident said that the chihuahuas were running around the town in groups of eight to 12. They just chase kids or go from yard to yard, Rios added.
The animal control centre has sought help from the residents to restrain the chihuahuas. Residents of Maryvale have been asked to safely contain them in a yard and inform the authorities. That would help the authorities to curb the menace.
The people of Maryvale have also been advised to prevent the creation of a pack of chihuahuas in another area by neutering their pets and keeping them on a leash.
