Two were killed in a helicopter crash, including a retired cop. Jeff Steel, the pilot who was killed in the crash near Benson on Wednesday was a retired police officer in a Phoenix suburb.

On Thursday, The Glendale Police Department confirmed the death of Jeff Steele; the department said that Steele was retired in 2011 after 25 distinguished years of service of several positions including a patrol officer, dog handler, SWAT team member and a motorcycle officer.

The Chopper was leased by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. And the other person who also died in the crash is known to be a mechanic but complete details are not available.
