A man was killed after being struck by a cab on Wednesday night in Central Phoenix, the police said.
According to the Phoenix police Lt. David Rath, the man and his girlfriend had been crossing Central Avenue north of Camelback Road at around 8:30 PM, when he was struck by a Discount Cab. His girlfriend missed being hit by seconds, he said.
Rath said that, the cab driver had been going the posted speed limit of 35 mph when he struck the pedestrian mid-block.
Rath said to a Discount Cab representative, that, "I'm sure (he's) shaken up a man went through his windshield."
The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, the Central Avenue was closed between Camelback Road and Colter Street for the crash investigation.
There is no estimated time, when the road will be reopened, police said.
