A soggy send-off to 2016 has been expected this weekend, as per the National Weather Service.
Two separate storm systems are believed to move into the Phoenix area, bringing with them cold air, humidity and rain, said the Weather Service meteorologist Hector Vasquez.
On December 30, last Friday of the year a high of 70 degrees with a low of 54 is expected. Friday might witness a warmer tropical storm moving in from the Baja Coast. But, rain has not yet been predicted to start until the evening with a 60 percent chance of showers persisting throughout the night, according to Vasquez.
Those chances will remain through Saturday morning, which will have a 70 percent chance of rain. Chances will drop throughout the rest of the day with scattered showers, until the second storm system begins to move on Saturday night.
On Saturday, a high of 64 and a low of 53 is expected.
Vasquez informed that on Sunday morning, the chances of rain will be at 50 percent as the last of the storm systems moves its way out of Arizona.
The last weekend is going to be a humid one as well. Whenever it will not be raining, Friday is thought to be at 47 percent humidity. That will be a rise on Saturday with humidity peaking at about 65 percent and then 62 percent for Sunday.
