Temporary orders issued to protect Chinese Cultural Center elements

On Wednesday a temporary restraining order is signed by Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Randall Warner. This order restrains the Phoenix Chinese Cultural Center’s new owners from removing two of the property’s important heritage elements.

This order protects the centre’s green and gold glazed-tile roofing and traditional Chinese-garden statues from demolition until Nov 3 i.e., five weeks.

The community members and Arizona Foundation for Chinese rights have filed a suit against True North and the City of Phoenix. The community members claimed that religious rights and other laws were violated due to changes at the cultural changes.

True North Company was seeking to renovate 93 of 103 condominium units it owns on the cultural centre.

This tourist attraction is considered as connect between Arizona and China. This Cultural Centre cost tens of millions to build in 1997. For years, many festivals were organized in this centre.
