Karnataka Floor Test Update: Congress Leader K.R. Ramesh Kumar Elected as Speaker

Ahead of trust vote, Congress leader K.R. Ramesh Kumar has been elected as the Karnataka Assembly speaker after Bharatiya Janata Party withdrew the nomination of Suresh Kumar, member of BJP party.
Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is now speaking in the house and within short period of time move the motion to prove his majority.
While Congress has 78 MLAs,JD (S) has 36 and Bahujan Samaj Party has one. The alliance has claimed support to KPJP MLA and an independent. The floor test is commencing almost after BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa resigned as a Chief Minister without going through the trust vote.
Early cracks have begun that appearance in the coalition with Deputy CM G Parameshwara’s remark that coalition had not discussed full tenure to JD(S) leader.
Reacting to the statement, Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy said the decision on a 5-year or 2-year tenure for H.D. Kumaraswamy will be decided by the party high command.
