A man was found shot to death at a Phoenix apartment Tuesday morning, and police are continuing to search for his killer, officials said.

Officers responded to an apartment near Interstate 17 and Indian School Road just before 11:30 a.m., in response to a report of shots fired, said Sgt. Armando Carbajal, a  Phoenix Police Department spokesman.

Disean Russell, 30, was found by officers on the floor of an apartment unresponsive with an apparent gunshot injury, Carbajal said.

The Phoenix Fire Department later pronounced Russell dead at the scene, Carbajal said.

Witnesses told officers the suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a dark-colored, four-door sedan with tinted windows, Carbajal said.

The suspect is described as an African-American man in his 30s, medium build, wearing a light-colored shirt and light-colored shorts, Carbajal said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at (480) W-I-T-N-E-S-S, or for Spanish (480) T-E-S-T-I-G-O.
