Speeding through an immigration checkpoint in southern Arizona lead to taking a driver into custody by authorities on a high-speed chase on Interstate 10 toward Phoenix.

The car has failed to yield to the Border Patrol agents who were working at an immigration checkpoint towards the south of Casa Grande, said the officials with U.S Customs and Border Protection.

The officials of Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said that shots were fired at the border officers by the driver, before the chase begun around 3 pm.

The incident involved the DPS, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Border Patrol and the Gila River Police Department and the officers did not fire their weapons, says officials. The name of the suspect wasn’t released immediately.

The tweets regarding the traffic has been made, informing the citizens to get prepared to wait due to very heavy backup from the earlier law-enforcement-related closure. The individuals are being informed about the traffic being stopped and when opened and also when in pursuit of the vehicle on I-10 and Mile Post 175 (Casa Blanca Exit) west bound cautioning people about the issue.
