The 45th US President Donald Trump is in the run to become the third US President to be impeached. Trump was in talks of being impeached for abusing his power and with the voting in the House, it set up for a Senate trial that is scheduled for Wednesday. The voting has been done in order to remove him from office after three turbulent years.
The voting in the Democratic majority House came up to by a 230 to 197 which leads Trump closer for getting impeached and being the third President in the American history to get impeached.
Democrats said that, the only choice they had was to charge the Republican President formally. The impeachment places a stain on Donald Trump’s record as a President.
Based on the voting in the House, the votes has been won by all the Democrats in the House and not by a single Republican which leaves Trump in the track of being the next President to get impeached and being the third President in the American history to get impeached. If done so, Trump will be the only President likely to win his party’s nomination for re-election.
Donald Trump was addressing a campaign rally, as the voting took place.
“While we’re creating jobs and fighting for Michigan, the radical left in Congress is consumed with envy and hatred and rage, you see what’s going on.”
The house called for votes on two charges: first, abuse of power as Mr Trump has made an attempt to pressurize president of Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, his democratic political rival. The second, obstruction of Congress, as the President refused to co-operate with the inquiry of impeachment as he withheld documentary evidence and barred his aides from providing the evidence.
Though Trump will be certainly acquitted by the Republicans being the majority in the chamber, the decision on convicting the charges and removing him from the office will be decided by the Senate as it holds a trial early next year.
The depositions from more than a dozen witnesses were taken by the House Democrats, weeks of hearing were held and hundreds of pages had been written, documenting the efforts which Trump has made in order to pressure the President of Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son.
Senator Deb Fischer tweeted that Democrats wanted to impeach and remove Trump from the office from the day he has been elected and that the present votes was the culmination of their efforts.
