While the status of Covid-19 in US has been getting worse with every single day, the agenda of the last White House briefing was also conducted on the need for more tests to be conducted. The substantial issue that still persists now is checking whether or not the states have enough of the necessary supplies to scale up the screening process on a daily basis.
Amidst all these talks, citizens from various parts of the country like Michigan have come out on the streets to protest against the stay at home orders that have been imposed by the governors of the state to contain the further spread of the virus.
During the briefing at the White House, the reporters also highlighted the tweets made by Donald Trump supporting and siding with the protestors.
Trump tweeted saying, “These are people who are expressing their views. I see where they are. I see the way they work it. They seem to be very responsible people to me.”
Aside from that, the one thing that left people in a state of panic was Trump’s plan of reopening the economy back again in a three stage process. But, the reopening is going to have a certain criteria matches and if the areas are deemed safe enough to open, they will proceed along with the approval of the Governors.
While the guidelines have clearly mentioned that there shouldn’t be a gathering of more than 10 people, there has been practical concern as the number of people joining around in the protests include way more than that and that too without following any of the social distancing propaganda.
According to the argument made by Donald Trump, he believes that some of the rules and restrictions in some of the states are “extremely strict”. Although, he failed to say which rules he thinks are the strict ones. Aside from that, Trump also did slam the governor of Virginia who signed a series of gun reform bills.
“If you look at some of the states you just mentioned it is too tough, not only relative to this, but what they have done in Virginia with respect to the second amendment. It is a horrible thing. They did a horrible thing, the governor,” Trump said.
The response from some governors for Trump’s behaviour and choice of words has been constant anger and puzzlement. Even Governor Jay Inslee went on to further say that with such statements, Trump is encouraging illegal and dangerous acts happening around.
Inslee took to twitter to say, “The president is fomenting domestic rebellion and spreading lies, even while his own administration says the virus is real, it is deadly and we have a long way to go before restrictions can be lifted.”
The reopening of the states is a decision that now lies in the hands of the governors who have been issued with the notification of the three stage reopening plan. Further decisions will be imposed accordingly.
