On Monday, Israel found a “monoclonal neutralizing antibody” to treat coronavirus. The defense minister Naftali Benett said that this is a “significant breakthrough”.
Israel Institute for Biological Research developed vaccine for this virus. Further, the minister quoted "can neutralize it (the disease-causing coronavirus) inside carriers' bodies,"
On Monday, he visited IIBR and was explained about the significant breakthrough in getting an antidote for coronavirus.
This antibody is patented so that it can be produced in bulk later, according to Director Shmuel Shapira.
In finding a treatment for COVID-19, IIBR is leading. To develop a possible cure, they took blood samples and immune system proteins from the patients who recovered from COVID-19.
This antibody was obtained from a single recovered cell and is valuable in finding a treatment.
The Magazine Science Direct reported that the other antibodies developed are derived from two or more cells.
In Israel there were 16,246 cases reported and 235 deaths due to coronavirus. This country was one of the first one to close its borders and started following strict rules since this virus started spreading.
