Superstar Rajinikanth has been entertaining the audience from the past 45 years and he is still enjoying terrific fanbase all over. The top actor has been named to be honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2019. The actor will receive the award in a special event soon. The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar announced the news through his twitter handle. Rajinikanth was showered with compliments for his work and the achievement. Several film celebrities, politicians and businessmen congratulated Rajinikanth on the special occasion.
"Happy to announce Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic," posted Prakash Javadekar on his twitter page. The announcement of the Dadasaheb Phalke awards was delayed by a year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The jury members included Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal, singer Asha Bhosle, Bollywood filmmaker Subash Ghai, singers Shankar Mahadevan and Biswajeet Chatterjee. Rajinikanth is shooting for his next film Annaatthe in the direction of Shiva and the film releases in November 2021.
