On Wednesday evening Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the expansion of the BRICS membership at the open plenary session of the 15th Brics summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. Modi addressed the plenary just after the success of India’s moon mission, Chandrayaan 3.
Narendra Modi said that the BRICS will be breaking barriers, creating opportunities and shaping the future of the world. Modi said that through the vaccine Research and Development Centre and mutual recognition of pharma products, BRICS countries are bringing positive changes. Modi asked the countries to concentrate on skill development and technology.
Modi also talked about India’s DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing Platform) which aims to provide education to the underprivileged. He also talked about Bashini, an AI-based language platform that is being used in India. Modi has recommended permanent membership for the African Union in the G20.
Besides this Modi’s respect towards the Tricolor is trending on social media platforms. Modi was on stage along with South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa, who was supposed to have a group photo along with other international leaders. Modi when went on stage saw the tricolour and picked it up and kept it in his pocket. The video went viral and people are praising his respect.
