In a tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday, six individuals, including five members of a family from Andhra Pradesh, lost their lives in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a minivan on U.S. Highway 67 in Texas, United States. Ponnada Venkata Satish Kumar, a YSR Congress Party lawmaker representing Mummidivaram in the Andhra Pradesh assembly, confirmed that the victims were his close relatives hailing from Amalapuram in Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema district.
The victims have been identified as P Nageshwara Rao, his wife Seetha Mahalakshmi, their daughter Naveena, their grandson Kruthik, and their granddaughter Nishita. The sixth individual who lost their life in the accident remains unidentified. Satishkumar expressed his grief over the loss of his uncle's family and revealed that they were residing in Atlanta and were returning home after celebrating Christmas with other relatives in Texas.
According to reports, the crash occurred on US Highway 67 and County Road 1119 in the Nemo area. Satishkumar, citing information received from authorities, stated that two young individuals were present in the pickup truck at the time of the collision and were driving on the wrong side of the road. Fortunately, they survived the accident and were airlifted to Fort Worth Hospital for medical treatment.
Lokesh, the son-in-law of Nageshwara Rao, was the only survivor in the minivan but sustained serious injuries. His condition is currently critical. The family expressed gratitude to Kolla Ashok Babu, treasurer of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), and Polavarapu Srikanth, treasurer of the Telugu Foundation, for their assistance in arranging for the transportation of the bodies back to India.
