Story
This is not typical Ramayana. Wipe off the story you know about Ramayana and walk into theatres. The movie starts after the visual explanation of lord Rama coming out from Ayodhya. Then as we know Ravana lifts Sita from her cave, then Jatayavu and then Sabari help. Vali and Sugreeva fight and then the construction of Ram Sethu bridge. Saving Lakshmana with Sanjeevini and finally Ravana Dhahan. The film is about how director Om Raut projected Ramayana.
Analysis
As expected Adipurush has extraordinary VFX work. If you are aware of Ramayana in our childhood, better ignore watching Adipurush as you will be very disappointed with the latest version. Killing Sita even in a dream was the saddest part, which I hated personally. We dream of a beautiful Lanka, as we hear from our old-age Ramayana. but what we see in Adipurush is a completely diff and ugly demon place with beautiful VFX.
Comparisons apart, Adipurush is okay for a one-time watch. Music by Atul-Ajay is a life for the film.
The first half is racy and more than half of the story was completed in the first half. Jatayu War was extremely stunning. But when we talk about the second half, some part of the film reflects the Hollywood blockbuster film Planet Of Aps. 3D effects are good, but unwanted scenes are boring, like the introduction of Prabhas.
Performance
Adipurush is not a South Indian cup of tea. Prabhas was good and peaceful as Lord Rama. Kriti Sanon as Sita is okay. but when we talk about Ravana aka Saif Ali Khan, no one can ever replace him as Ravana in current generation actors. Saif’s attitude, walk, expressions and costumes are the biggest asset of the film.
Positives:
Jai Shriram Chants
Casting, Prabhas as Lord Rama and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana
3D effects
Negatives:
Lengthy run time
Second half
VFX work
Final Word
Adipurush makes an average watch and it would appeal to kids and family crowds if the expectations are kept low.
