Tempe Town Lake reopens, party & free boat rides

It is the time to throw on your swimsuits and hit the water! Tempe Town Lake is reopen, the city is offering free boat rides and throwing a party.

The  city of Tempe announced that the Tempe Town Lake, which was closed since February 10 due to some repair work of a dam is again open for boating and water activities.

Mayor Mark Mitchell said that, “We are so thrilled to announce that Tempe Town Lake is back in business, and we’re thankful to the entire community for the patience they have shown as we completed this major construction project.”

"It's going to be a beautiful weekend in the Valley what better way to celebrate spring weather than to go out and enjoy Tempe Town Lake!"

According to the officials,  May 14 has declared as Tempe Town Lake Day and there will be a free  dam dedication party for the public.

Festivities will begin at 8 a.m. that includes, live music, police vehicles and construction equipment, dozens of fire trucks,  talks on the lake's wildlife and food at Tempe Center for the Arts.

Earlier, Tempe spokeswoman Kris Baxter-Ging said that, "We wanted to make sure that Tempe Town Lake was open to everyone as soon as possible." "We know how people enjoy it and especially wanted to have it opened over the weekend," she said.
