An Arizona couple was booked on charges of child neglecting and endangerment after they left their 2-year-old son alone for up to 90 minutes to go play the “Pokemon Go” smartphone game, authorities said.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, the couple Brent Daley, 27, and Brianne Daley, 25, abandoned their toddler son at their San Tan Valley home, southeast of Phoenix, for 90 minutes in 90-degree heat without water while they played Pokemon Go in surrounding neighborhoods.
A local sheriff called the case “beyond comprehension”. “We never would have imagined that parents would abandon a child to play ‘Pokemon Go,’” he said.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office said in a release, that, a neighbor found the boy crying outside the couple’s home and dialed 911. Deputies found the boy at 10:30 p.m. in response to the call. He was "screaming and crying (and) attempting to get into the residence," the release reads. The boy was barefoot, red-faced and filthy, it added.
The officials said that, the couple eventually returned and admitted to driving around the area, stopping at parks and elsewhere while playing Pokemon Go.
