A candle light vigil is hosted by Fountain Hills Residents, In response to Virginia Violence

Fountain Hills Residents came together in response to Virginia Violence on Sunday Aug 20th. The Community has hosted a candlelight vigil to denounce racism, White supremacy and Nazism.
The candle light vigil was called as “We are one”. They are anticipating that this event will promote independence, equality, and unity in diversity as the tension builds in the nation.
Around 150 people showed up to The Fountain United Methodist Church for the event to share the importance of unity and peace.
Ginny Dickey, who lives in fountain hills, saw the last week Virginia violence and decided to bring her community together to spread the message of peace.
“Show unity…. celebrate diversity, all of these really good welcoming things” Dickey said.
This 1 hour event has bought people together irrespective of several faiths and secular community. These was live music and comments from community leaders and fellow Fountain hills residents.
“The message is that we are all Americans and we all value those core values of interdependence and unity and equality” said pastor David Felten.
They bought signs to the event, one of them read “ Hate has no home here”.
“It’s been a long time coming that there’s so much hate and we need to come together”, said Ciel Villawatkins.
