An off-duty Yuma Police Officer is facing charges for rape in San Diego.

33 years old Jared Elkins was booked into San Diego County Jail on Sexual assault.  He was arrested just before 4.30 am on Friday morning in the 4700 block of Marlborough Drive in Kensington.

The incident started when San Diego Police officers responded to a sexual assault call just before 4:30 am on September 15.

Elkins was released on $100,000 bail later that day. He has served for 7 years in Yuma as an officer. He is in the process of being placed on administrative leave.
