Pinetop-Lakeside officer injured in Shooting

A Pinetop-Lakeside officer was injured in a deadly shooting overnight. He was brought to Valley for treatment. According to Pinetop police, On Sunday night officers were called to do the welfare check on a Lakeside home around 10 pm. A Tucson woman called police when she was troubled that her son was intoxicated and threatened to shoot his wife.

Responding to the report police went to the home and found that a man was holding a gun and he began shooting at the officers, and officers returned it. The suspect was identified as Glenn Southwood.

One of the officers suffered from a shot above his knee during this gunfire, he was given first-aid on spot by the fellow officers and concerned citizens and was later flown to Phoenix downtown area hospital.

Later they called Tactical teams to make contact with the suspect. Around 3 am, police deployed K-9 officer into the home but he was attacked by a pit-bull. He is now being treated by a veterinarian.

However, the suspect was found dead on the porch of the home. The injured officer is now out of danger.
