Jr NTR and Hyderabad Police have come up with a different and unique short film as a part of a campaign for awareness on the social media offence. The film focuses on how social media offenders grab personal information through online platforms and begin to offend. The police department aims to use these short films to spread awareness among the citizens of Hyderabad.
V V Srinivas Rao, the Commissioner of Police, said, “In some northern States of India, mobile operators and some banking institutions are not following the rules while issuing sim cards, or bank accounts which allow swindlers to procure sim cards with fake documents. Using those fake identities, the frauds are calling innocent people”.
He cautioned internet users saying that, “We may protect you, but you should protect yourself first. One should be more cautious when it comes to online money transactions.”
Four more such short films were launched at the Cyber Crime Police at Prasad Film Labs to spread awareness among public on the cybercrimes. The films focus on how crimes happen online for jobs, matrimonial frauds, social media offenses, OTP frauds, and multi-level marketing frauds.
Arjun Reddy fame Vijay Devarakonda is also seen in a matrimonial fraud awareness video, where he essays his fame dialogue from the film, “Kakkurthi Padakandi’ (don’t be obsessed).
In yet another short film, mega Telugu director SS Rajamouli is seen discouraging on sharing debit or credit card numbers, CVV numbers, expiry dates, and OTP numbers with people making phone calls or asking online, so as to avoid frauds.
Avinash Mohanty, the DCP of cyber crimes said that they would upload the short films in YouTube and other social media platforms for quicker and extensive circulation.
