At least one person is dead and two others are in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in west Phoenix.

The incident occurred at around 2;30 a.m. near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road. According to Phoenix fire, four people were involved in the crash.

Witnesses told Phoenix police that they saw a burgundy vehicle fail to stop for the red light at the intersection as it collided with a gray vehicle traveling west on McDowell Road.

Phoenix police said that the 35-year-old woman, who was the driver of the burgundy vehicle was transported in critical condition to the hospital.

The victim driver of the gray vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The 27-year-old male victim, who was a passenger of the gray vehicle was also transported in serious condition.

The intersection of 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road was restricted as police investigated the crash.
