Central observer and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi who was on a special mission to the state has at last finalized the poll strategy, but need to see how long our leaders will maintain the designed code of conduct. The forthcoming 18 by-polls seats seem to be of utmost importance to the Congress, which had lost the earlier seven by-poll seats in the recent past. The importance gained prominence when the Congress high command had deputed Mr Ravi instead of the usual Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who is also the state in-charge. Speculators also feel that Mr Ravi’s presence is conspicuous as he was the former state in-charge of the state. He was trusted acquaintance of the former Chief Minister Late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. After ending up his five day tour of the state, on Friday Mr Ravi left for the capital from Hyderabad. However, he is likely to come back to explore further.
During this visit, Mr Ravi had met several leaders at the state capital. And to have firsthand information, he had also visited the Godavari districts. The leaders had proposed that the state leadership must forget its internal turmoil and work together to win the by-polls. Apart from having two massive rallies at two different places before the by-polls, he also suggested to appoint one In-charge per constituency. However the vital dilemma which was hovering over the state leaders was whether YSR name be pulled in or not. But Mr Ravi had sternly instructed the state to stop ill campaign on YSR and instead highlight government welfare schemes.
On the contrary the leader had also suggested the Congress to go all out against the YSR Congress headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telugu Desam Party headed by N Chandrababu Naidu. He also asked Congress leaders to already launch the election campaign without first waiting for the announcement of the list of candidates. The AICC observer, who has received complaints and suggestions from MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ministers and other Telangana leaders, is expected to submit his report to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Hence all is set for the Congress to move ahead in the by-polls and now critics feel the results of the by-polls will go into whose kitty. Will they go into the ruling party or the AICC observer?
