The latest film 'Annapoorani' featuring Nayanthara and Jai has found itself in controversy as it faces allegations of hurting religious sentiments and promoting 'Love Jihad'. The film has come under fire for allegedly including a controversial comment about Lord Ram. A man named Ramesh Solanki filed an FIR in Mumbai and also shared a statement on social media, claiming that the movie promotes Love Jihad and offends Hindu sentiments.
The complaint was filed against Nayanthara, Jai, director Nilesh Krishnaa, and producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran, and Punit Goenka. Additionally, Zee Studios Chief Business Officer Shariq Patel and the head of Netflix India, Monika Shergill, were also named in the complaint. 'Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food' is currently streaming on Netflix.
The film revolves around Nayanthara's character, an aspiring chef who defies her mother's warnings and participates in the reality show 'India's Best Chef'. Jai also plays a significant role in the film. 'Annapoorani' is jointly produced by Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran, and it also features Sathyaraj, Redin Kingsley, Suresh Chakravarthy, Renuka, and KS Ravikumar. Thaman S has composed the music for the film, while Sathyan Sooryan serves as the cinematographer.
The film holds significance as it marks the reunion of Nayanthara and Jai, who previously worked together in the 2013 film 'Raja Rani'. Nayanthara underwent training from a professional chef to prepare for her role in 'Annapoorani'.
