Your foot takes you everywhere. With time a dry, thickened skin develops on heel which becomes more painful with redness, itching, inflammation and peeling. Eventually deep cracks which gets deeper and causes bleeding.
Some of the cracks are caused due to dry air, lack of moisture, improper foot care, standing for long hours on hard floor, unhealthy diets and wearing wrong shoe type. Eczema, psoriasis, corns and calluses, diabetes and thyroid can also contribute to the problem.
Below are some home remedies for those cracked heel
A variety of vegetable oils like olive oil, sesame oil or coconut oil works good on the heel and treats the crack.
If you thought rice flour is for cooking purpose, then here’s a new way to use the flour. Rice flour can be used to remove the dead skin, thus preventing crack and dryness.
The acidic property of lemon keeps the skin of heel smooth.
Applying a mixture of rosewater and glycerin before going to bed is believed to be an effective treatment for cracked heels.
Margosa or neem leaves is an effective remedy for the cracked feet, especially when they become itchy and infected. Due to fungicidal properties, they prevent skin infections.
